Bob Burns No Bananas DAT Driver The D.A.T. 460ccâ€"Of this fifth-generation No Bananas Driver, the people at Bob Burns Golf have begun saying to certain radical slicers, no more than half-jokingly, “You got to have DAT,” where “DAT” means literally the most recent in “Draw Alignment Technology,” but where it might just as well mean “distinctively aerodynamic and acoustical] trademarks.” Viewed from the side, the DATâ€(tm)s profile bears a notable resemblance to an airplaneâ€(tm)s wing. Though the DAT, with its shallower face (about 1/3rd” shallower than the face of the Classic 460cc) is otherwise forged of Beta Titanium, its elongated convex crown is made of an ultra-light titanium alloy that has allowed us to redistribute weight toward both toe and heel, and to produce a lighter-than-average clubhead (196 grams), all in the interest of optimizing stability at impact and clubhead-speed. Most notable, perhaps, is the DATâ€(tm)s unusual inside-out sightline, created by three very slightly raised ridges on the crown, each lightly marked in gray, that in turn create two slightly recessed aerodynamic channels curving gradually from front-center of the crown toward the rear of the heel, the effort being to provide the weekend, slicing warrior with both visual and physical aids to an inside-out swing. As if these elements of the DATâ€(tm)s design arenâ€(tm)t enough, the grounding surface of the sole reinforces the sightline on the crown, as the central surface of the sole likewise curves from front-center toward the rear of the heelâ€"so that when you place the sole of the DAT lightly on a flat surface, the clubface closes naturally, and strikingly, toward a substantial 7Â, as if the sole were acting like a broad keel to lead your backswing from inside to out. SMT 455 Deep Bore The most successful component club head of all time. 2 World Long Drive Championships (384 & 345 yards). The first-ever South African Long Drive Challenge. And, a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records (2003). The lower center of gravity from a slightly deeper than standard head design gives your club the solid feel that you desire while still affording you the most forgiving head in our lineup. The lack of scorelines on the face will make your playing partners stand up and take notice. This design is one of function, not fashion. Our goal is to make all of our heads play as close to the .830 USGA allowance, and that called for a very thin face. So thin, that if we were to score the face in a traditional manner, it would weaken the structure of the head and compromise structural integrity and our quality standards. The 455 is a favorite of those looking for the most forgiveness in their club while still looking for a slightly higher than standard trajectory.
